Performance Anxiety and Enhancement - EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

Performance anxiety is a common issue for many of us. Past events, such as layoffs, receiving criticism, and messing up can impact our ability to reach our performance goals. You may not recall a specific event, but frequently feel inadequate and full of self-doubt. The EMDR protocol may be a viable option in helping you enhance your performance.

Your performance angst may be stemming from an easily recalled event, or may be a result of a childhood experience that you would have never equated with today’s discomfort. EMDR is a specific protocol that can help link these experiences together, assist in discovering key negative thoughts that are triggered by performance events, and minimize if not extinguish feelings of anxiety, doubt, and withdrawal.

Sessions are frequently 60 to 90 minutes in length, and the average number of sessions varies from 6 to 10. A great deal of research has been conducted on EMDR used for peak performance, and it has been found to be very effective.
